Network Marketing Products Do Not Sell Themselves

One of the things that a new person involved with a network marketing, MLM, or multi-level marketing company may be told is that the product is so good that it sells itself. The products are not that good. They do not sell themselves. If they did, the company would not need you or any distributors. They would simply put it in the retail outlets, and it would fly off the shelves.

It is difficult at best to convince someone about how good your product is. Even when you are able to get people to try the product for free, they often do not become sold on the product you are pushing. People have different results from the same item. It may help some and not others. Unless they happen to see benefits from it and they are able to receive their own testimonial of its goodness, it is not easy to sell the product without the opportunity.

Because network marketing companies are work at home opportunities and home based businesses which pay their distributors the advertising budget funds, the products are often priced higher when compared with similar products found in stores. Distributors are willing to pay the extra price because they should be able to make their money back and then some when their business gets established. When they begin to earn money from their business, the price of the product is not a concern to distributors.

At the beginning before any money is earned, it can be difficult to pay the high cost of the products required to stay active and be qualified to receive commissions. Distributors buy the product before they have anyone buying it under them. It’s good for the company but may not be good for the distributor if he/she is not able to begin earning quickly. In a few companies, distributors may receive some kick back on their own purchases, but most companies simply pay on the purchase volumes from the people under their distributors.

It is important for the distributors in any network marketing company to believe in the products they are selling, whether they are nutritional supplements or long distance service. If they don’t like the products, they cannot be effective in the business. They have to be sold on the products themselves, and they should believe that they are good. It is also important for a person to not get in over their heads. If they cannot afford a few months of expenditures to the company, they should consider carefully whether or not to join. Everyone is excited at first, but it could be a difficult business if success comes slowly.

Working From Home Can Be Pathetic

Although some people are earning substantial amounts of money from home based businesses such as internet marketing, affiliate marketing, network marketing (MLM or multi-level marketing), thousands of people are trying unsuccessfully and sometimes desperately to find a way to make a part time income or to possibly replace their job. Many are spending large amounts of money and time trying to find that one opportunity which will be a good fit for them. Some are successful, but many are not. There are some good opportunities out there, but choosing one can be difficult.

Some claim that an easy way to earn extra income is by doing surveys and joining forum groups. The ads say a person can earn hundreds of dollars a day with only a part time effort. There must be people who are successful at earning money by taking surveys, but good paying ones are hard to find. Most survey sites are free to join, but people are being enticed to buy a survey opportunity for $39.95. When they pay the money, they are given a listing of survey sites which are free to join. Someone may be making a good income on these projects, but it is unlikely to be the person taking the surveys.

After people sign up with a survey opportunity, they are sent emails telling them when a survey is available. If they complete the survey, they may be paid one or two dollars (occasionally more) for twenty minutes of work. Often people will fill out the preliminary information (which could take several minutes) only to find out that they do not qualify to take the survey. A survey which pays $1.00 could take twenty to thirty minutes of work, and the survey may be filled and no longer available within hours. People are trying hard to earn money so they are willing to work for well below the normal minimum wage. Is that pathetic or what? If they have lots of time and enjoy it, that is fine.

Another method of earning money is by clicking on ads. A person signs up with a site which pays them two cents per click. It takes a long time for two cents to add up to any income. It could take months to get a $30.00 check. People are likely to quit before they ever receive payment which means that leaving money on the table is a boon to the people running the site.

In this bad economy, many people are looking for a way to supplement their income or to earn money at all. There are numerous opportunities for earning money even in a recession, but the good opportunities are not be easy to find. While some people are willing to do work for pathetic returns, others are making huge incomes with home based businesses. Finding a good fit may be difficult, but trying one out may be the only way to find out is an offer is good.

Network Marketing Success – The Mystery Removed, Now It’s a Crystal Clear Formula!

For years I wondered why some people enter the network marketing profession and, over time, make millions of dollars (even millions of dollars per year) while others appear to work at it for years and barely make a dime.

The worst kind of promoters of the industry, the real kings of hype, would have us all believe that it’s all just easy — just get three, then they will get three, etc., etc., and within months, you would have tens of thousands of people working for you, earning money for you, almost effortlessly. Of course, it never works that way.

But the best of the leaders, the rare ones that also achieved the highest incomes did have something going for them. I wanted to know what that was. Was it the company that they joined? Did it have some rare product or compensation plan that made them so successful? No. Clearly there were high earners in many, many companies, even some that were totally unimpressive.

Was it their prior level of success that determined whether they would do well in their chosen MLM company? Sometimes that helped, for sure, but I have certainly seen very successful people accomplish very little while others, who would otherwise have been considered very average, even below average, became hugely successful in their network marketing businesses.

Maybe the secret was that the top dogs were extreme extroverts? No, it seems at least a small percentage actually seemed to be the opposite of that and still found a way to succeed. Was it brains? Good looks? A glib tongue? They got in very early? They know all the right people? Great education? No. I realized for every success I thought of that had one or more of those seeming advantages, there were plenty of others who did not.

Perhaps, it was their level of desire? No question I had heard my share of motivational talks about the impelling power of a strong “why” and I sure couldn’t think of anyone that had made it big without powerful internal motivation of some kind. Yes, that certainly must be at least part of the equation.

Interestingly, two different top earners that I know personally are extremely dyslexic. Wow. Did that work in their favor somehow? Now I was really stretching.

For over ten years I had those kinds of questions rattling around in my head. And every time I got to know another “heavy hitter,” I watched to discover their “secrets.”

Of course, and this may be obvious to anyone that thinks about it, it is never just one thing that tricks the deal. It’s a combination of factors.

Admittedly, sometimes I get a little obsessive about my desire to understand things very clearly. And I love definitions and formulas, anything that will help me understand something with greater clarity.

I don’t know exactly why or how ideas pop into our heads. (And it’s always when we are doing something else, you know, like taking a shower or doing some mundane household chore.)

On this particular day a few months ago, while I was just driving home from the gym, the answer to this network marketing success puzzle just came to me, almost complete, in the way of an actual formula.

I call it “The Network Marketing Effectiveness Formula” and it explains every big success that I have studied in the MLM profession. Here are the factors that multiply together in the formula:

Offer credibility x Personal Credibility x Personal Likability x Exposure = Your Effectiveness Score

No longer is huge MLM success a mystery! Nor is it too obscure to be unobtainable. The formula actually brings crystal clarity to what it takes to reach the highest levels of success.

The insights got even more interesting when I interviewed one million-dollar-per-year earner, who reached that unusually high level of success in less than six years from newbie to guru, when he scored himself using the formula. It revealed that he still had lots of work to do in the area of “Personal Likability.” He also needed to improve in “Offer Credibility.”

The beauty of knowing the formula is that once you understand it, it’s easy to make adjustments in any of the factors to increase, even dramatically, your own income level – the mystery is gone!

And, perhaps equally as important, the hype that caused much of the poor reputation that MLM wears like scarlet letters gets erased with the accurate understanding of how success and failure in the profession are produced.
